Proclaims the Readings of the day, and sometimes the Psalm, at Mass. When no Deacon is present at Mass, carries the Book of Gospels in the entrance procession. Requires a clear speaking voice.
Girls and boys in the 3rd grade and up are afforded the privilege and honor of assisting Father at Mass. It is a special commitment for both you and your child. Parent commitment includes being responsible for getting your server to Mass 15 minutes early, helping them to learn the order of the Mass and bringing them to a deeper understanding of the privilege of serving God and Church.
Training sessions are held throughout the year. If your child is interested in serving, Please sign the permission form and turn it in to the Religious Education office.
Helps late comers find a seat. Also, helps those who have an emergency during Mass. Conducts the Offertory collection, guides parishioners from pews at communion time, and distributes bulletins as people leave Church.
Distributing Holy Communion at Mass is one of the most precious and special privileges a lay person can have. If you feel a calling to this Ministry, contact the Parish Office at 815-568-7878.
